The Real Story Of Pocahontas - Tiana Holloway

                               The Real Story Of Pocahontas

Genre: Informational
Author: Unknown

The happily-ever after story of Pocahontas told by Disney is not exactly historically correct. This is the real story of our favourite Native American princess.

The real story of Pocahontas or also known as 'Matoaka' meaning ' flower between two streams'
is a rather tragic story. The story where Pocahontas saves Captain John Smith from being executed is most likely false, Pocahontas would have still been a child and wouldn't have been able to attend at religious rituals.

Pocahontas had two sons before being poisoned and dying on the trip back to Virginia with her second husband, Joh Rolfe's family. Her first child was with the brother of the chief of the Potowomac (Patawomeck) tribe, and at the time husband, Kocoum. The father of her second child isn't mentioned but he was a half white child.

I would recommend this book to people who like learning about the Native American culture and the facts behind famous movies. I give it a 9/10.
